BANK HOLIDAY AFTERNOON ACTION ENDS WITH CARAVAN DESTRUCTION DERBY

A busy Bank Holiday afternoon concluded with the running of the Caravan Destruction Derby following a packed programme of oval racing action at.

A strong crowd gathered for an afternoon featuring BriSCA F2 Stock Cars, ORCi Stock Rods, ORCi Ministox, Junior Rods, GP2 Lightning Rods and B2B Micro Bangers before attention turned towards the traditional Caravan Destruction Derby finale.

The BriSCA F2 Stock Cars saw Aidian McFerran enjoy an unbeaten afternoon after taking victory in both heats before completing a clean sweep with success in the Final. Thomas Greer and Declan Og McFerran chased him home in Heat One, while the Final saw Daniel Stewart finish second ahead of Declan Og McFerran.

The ORCi Stock Rods once again produced close and competitive racing throughout the afternoon. Shane McKinney opened proceedings with victory in Heat One ahead of Joe Tomlinson before repeating the result in Heat Two, this time finishing ahead of Jack Kennedy and Louise Donnell.

The Final saw Joe Tomlinson return to the top step after a strong drive to secure victory in the feature race ahead of Brooklyn Cromie and Jack Kennedy.

The ORCi Ministox once again provided competitive racing during the Bank Holiday programme, with Harry Martin enjoying a successful afternoon after taking victory in both qualifying heats before completing a clean sweep with another win in the Final.

Ethan McQuillan finished second in the opening heat ahead of Alice McGaffin, while Heat Two saw McGaffin improve to second position behind Martin. The Final rounded off the formula’s action with Alice McGaffin securing second place ahead of Ethan McQuillan in third.

The Junior Rods also featured as part of the support programme. Riley Dawson-Stirling opened the formula’s racing with victory in Heat One before Christopher Kernohan responded by taking the chequered flag in Heat Two ahead of Dawson-Stirling.

The Final saw Kernohan complete a successful afternoon by securing his second win of the meeting, once again finishing ahead of Riley Dawson-Stirling after another close contest between the pair.

The GP2 Lightning Rods also produced plenty of action throughout the afternoon. Lewis Peoples took victory in Heat One ahead of Jonny Kerr, while Heat Two saw Ryan Addis finish ahead of Robie Browne.

The Final provided one of the most dramatic moments of the afternoon, with the race descending into chaos during the closing stages as attrition took its toll across the field. Jonny Kerr ultimately emerged as the sole finisher to secure victory after a race that saw very few cars make it to the chequered flag.

The B2B Micro Bangers completed their afternoon’s action with Irish Champion David Owens leading the way across the formula’s races.

The final event of the Bank Holiday programme came with the always popular Caravan Destruction Derby, where competitors wasted little time turning the caravan fleet into chaos around the oval. The traditional finale brought the curtain down on another successful afternoon of racing action.
