Nutts Corner Raceway played host to a hugely entertaining festive Stock Car bash with four formulas in action and a spectacular Figure of 8 Caravan Destruction Derby bringing the curtain down on an action-packed day of racing.
Despite challenging track conditions at times, the drivers delivered thrilling competition across all classes, keeping the crowd entertained from the opening green flag right through to the final chequered flag.
The 1400 Stock Cars once again produced hard-fought racing throughout the afternoon. Matt Milliken set the pace early on by taking victory in Heat 1, before Michael Logan guided his trusty Toyota Starlet to the win in Heat 2. The Final proved to be the most demanding race of the meeting, with fluid leaked onto the circuit creating tricky conditions and leading to two caution periods. Keeping his composure throughout, Curtis Greer produced a fine drive to claim the Final victory.
The Junior Rods provided an excellent showcase of young talent. Christian Murray dominated the heats with victories in both Heat 1 and Heat 2. The Final saw a superb drive from Riley Dawson Stirling, who took the win after a strong performance. Josh Peoples impressed on his first-ever meeting by finishing second, while Maia Thompson completed the podium in third.
Plenty of drama unfolded in the GP2 Lightning Rods. Asan Dinnin took the win in Heat 1, with Aaron Fulton claiming Heat 2. Fulton initially crossed the line first in the Final, but was later docked by the stewards for earlier contact. This promoted Ballymena’s Nigel Kernohan to the top step of the podium, securing his first-ever GP2 Lightning Rods victory. Ricky Peoples was classified second, with Fulton demoted to third.
The Micro F2s completed three entertaining races during the afternoon, with Kurtis Peoples and Robbie Graham among the standout performers, both showing strong pace and consistency across the meeting.
The afternoon concluded in spectacular fashion with the Figure of 8 Caravan Destruction Derby. A superb turnout of fifteen drivers ensured non-stop action, with chaos from the off and plenty of dramatic moments at the crossover. When the dust finally settled, it was Adrian Finnegan who emerged victorious, bringing a memorable festive meeting to an exciting close.
