Nutts Corner Raceway Hosts Thrilling Season Finale of 2025
The 2025 stock car season drew to a close at Nutts Corner Raceway with a spectacular final meeting that delivered action-packed racing, championship-deciding battles, and memorable moments across multiple categories.
Saloon Stock Car Irish Championship
The defending champion, Matt Stirling, started from pole with Ryan Wright alongside him. Early drama saw Geoff Martin briefly seize the lead, only for Stirling to assert his authority with a precise wall-bounce maneuver to reclaim top spot. Anthony McIvor and Ryan Wright trailed closely, with McIvor briefly challenging Stirling. However, Ryan Wright seized the moment, moving past both to take the win. The victory secured Wright his fifth Irish Championship title. Stirling finished second, with McIvor completing the podium.
The Irish Revenge race offered more thrills, as Stirling executed a decisive last-bend move on McIvor to take the win.
ORCi Stock Rod Irish Championship
The feature race was dominated by a former World Champion Jack Kennedy , who claimed a commanding victory. Samuel Montgomery, another ex-World Champion, took second, while local racer Sam McKinstry rounded out the podium. The Revenge race saw Montgomery turn the tables, taking the win ahead of Kennedy.
Back To Basic Bangers Irish Championship
In a lively contest filled with close-quarters racing, David Owens emerged as the Irish Champion, with Keith Copeland second and Jim Robinson third. Robinson later triumphed in the Irish Revenge Race, capping a strong day.
Group 2 Lightning Rod Gold Roof Championship
After a season of consistent form, Randalstown’s George Esler claimed the championship ahead of Ricky Peoples and Jamie Burney. The day also featured the annual Colin Crawley Memorial Trophy, with Lewis Peoples taking the win, Paul Nesbitt second, and Esler third. Jack Gault added to the day’s highlights by taking a heat victory.
Junior Rod – King of Nutts Corner
Christian Murray, a recent addition to the formula, impressed by winning both heats. In a thrilling final, Maia Thompson emerged victorious after a race-long battle with Riley Dawson Stirling. Mya Hill finished third, marking her final appearance in the junior ranks. With her performance, Thompson might well deserve the unofficial title of “Queen of Nutts Corner.”
ORCi Ministox Ulster Championship
The grid was strengthened by visiting Scottish drivers, who dominated the day. David Philp and Rhys Anderson each took heat wins, with Anderson clinching the feature Ulster Final. Philp finished second, and Owen Marshall third.
Micro F2s
Kyle Anderson showcased his exceptional pace, remaining undefeated on the day with three more wins, ending the season on a high note.
The 2025 season finale at Nutts Corner Raceway proved a fitting end to an incredible year of stock car racing in Ireland, highlighting emerging talent, seasoned champions, and memorable battles across every category.
