The 1300 Stock Cars were the headline act as they contested their 2025 National Championship.
With 40 cars assembled in the pits a split heat system was required for qualifying with each driver racing in two qualifying races.
Heat 1 went the way of local lad Alexander McCreadie, after he romped clear of the pack. Matthew Weir was the runner up with Gareth Halliday third. It was a victory again in heat 2 for the local contingent, this time Jonathan Brown took the honours ahead of Ty Richardson and Joe Giles. Heat 3 was no different when William Teggart secured the victory making it a clean sweep in the heats for Northern Irish driver. This time Halliday was second with Brown third.
With all the points tallied Brown emerged as the pole sitter for the National showdown with Halliday alongside, while Giles and Ty Richardson shared row 2. The race got off to an explosive start with cars going flying in all directions, eventually resulting in an early caution period. On the restart Brown made good his escape while behind the bumpers was flying in wholesale. Brown quickly settled into a comfortable lead while Joshua Machin looked comfortable in second. The action was coming thick and fast and as the laps quickly ticked away there were a several race suspensions. The restarts were becoming difficult for Brown and he ended up victim with a handful of laps to go. From there Giles took up the running and managed to hold on and take the title ahead of Darren Terry Brand who had a fantastic run from way down the field. Completing the podium steps was the earlier heat winner Taggart.
Concluding the 1300 action for the evening was an outstanding Dash for Cash, with £1000 up for grabs the stakes were high. Curtis ‘TEBZ’ Tebbenham avoided the onslaught to land the big win.
Scottish lad Dean Heeps secured a double heat victory in the Saloon Stock Cars as they contested their 2025 King of NuttsCorner. Come the final it was Geoff Martin who commanded proceedings taking the win ahead of Matt Stirling and Anthony McIvor.
Also racing for the King of NuttsCorner was the Brisca F2 Stock Cars. Dylan Fegan kicked of his evening in style with a fine win in the opening heat before returnee Decaln Og McFerran secured the heat 2 triumph. Daniel Stewart was the man to beat in the title race, taking the silverware ahead of D Og McFerran and Aidan McFerran.
There was some visiting interest in the ORC Ministox boosting the field nicely as they also race for the King of NuttsCorner. The opening heat went the way of Corey Mathers before Charlie Weston enjoyed a visit to victory lane in the second heat. Mathers again proved to be unstoppable in the final taking the silverware, Eoin Donnelly was second with Alex Walker third.
Completing the busy race card was non contact racing from the Junior Rods and Micro F2’s. Christopher Kernohan recorded a pleasing heat 1 victory in the juniors before Charlie Hill romped to success in the second heat and the final. Joining Hill on the final podium was Codi Wilson and Maia Thompson.
In the Micro F2’s Kyle Anderson run clear in both the heats before star name Robbie Graham cruised through to take the final win, notably Sid Shaw had a fine evening securing second place finishes in all 3 races.
