Six Formula feast at Raceway!

The second race event of the month served up another afternoon of thrills and spills, with six formula’s on display.

Bangor’s Craig McConnell was again on top form in the Brisca F2 Stock Car’s where he enjoyed a heat and final double. McConnell was denied the hat trick of win by Ted Holland the current Irish Champion who visited victory lane in heat two. McConnell was joined on the final podium by Stephen McCready (2nd) and Holland (3rd).

There was again a large number of 2L Saloon Stock Cars in action, as the class continues its resurgence here in the province. Newcomer Dylan Booth capitalised on his white roof starting slot to capture both the heat win’s before Sean McFerran picked up the final silverware. McFerran was followed across the finish line by Anthony McIvor and Ryan Wright.

Jonathan Brown quickly made his presence felt in the 1300 Stock Car class, the Junior Rod graduate romped to a double heat victory ahead of Gareth Halliday on both occasions. In the grand final it was star name Robbie Wright who stormed through the pack to take the honours. Halliday was again the runner up with Jon McQuillan third.

Also on the race card was the Group 2 Lightning Rods, Junior Rods and Micro F2’s. The Group Two’s were making their 2020 season debut. George Esler from Randalstown opened up the afternoon with a fine win in heat one before Ballymena man Mark Goldie took charge of the remaining race with wins in heat two and the final.

The Junior Rods were another formula with high car counts; local lad Jamie Cardwell took the heat 1 spoils with new comer Calyn Peoples the heat two victor. Sam Stewart was the final winner with Joshua Murray and Peoples also getting their hands on silverware in second and third. The Micro F2 Stock Cars completed the busy 18 race billing; this formula continues to gain new drivers weekly as the youngsters begin their motorsport career. Andrew Russell and Mya Hill were among the top performers at Sunday’s meeting.
