The headline event of the day was the ORCi Stock Rod ORCi Championship. Ballymena’s Cole McFall was the opening heat winner before Jack Kennedy chalked up a victory in heat two. After a determined drive in the title race William Donnell again emerged the victor, making in two from two. Kennedy showed good pace taking the runner up spot with Jamie Dawson third.
The Ministox Irish Open Championship was the opening race of the afternoon. A messy opening lap resulted in a complete restart; a high profile casualty in the melee was David Philp Jnr. On the second attempt the race got underway with no major incidents. After 12 laps of action England’s Mason Sealy come out on top claiming the crown. Charlie Burgoyne was the gallant runner up with Rhys Anderson third.
In no mean feat Sealy also claimed the revenge race honours before local lad Eoin Donnelly secure the allcomers win.
On Sunday afternoon the Saloon turned their attention to the Irish Masters title. Brad Compton and Graeme Shevill visited victory line in the heat races before Shevill showed fine pace to take a runaway victory in the Irish Masters final. Next across the line was Levi List and Joey Reynolds.
In traditional style the weekend was concluded by the annual Stephen Boyd Memorial Race. After a quiet afternoon due to damage from the night before Barry Russell stormed the field to take the perpetual trophy.
Cullybackey’s Curtis Greer was on top form taking the honours in the 1300 Stock Car Iron man trophy. Greer held off a late surge from Ryan Abernethy who had to settle for second, third was England’s Luke Gordon. Later in the afternoon Matt Milliken run clear of the field to take the revenge race while the visiting Joshua Machin enjoyed a heat win.
Alfie Flecken returned for day two in the Brisca F2’s with a taste for victory. The English teenager chalked up an impressive hat trick wins. Ryan McCrory was a hard charger in the meeting final however he just couldn’t run down Flecken as the laps disappeared. McCrory was runner up with Joshua Murray a pleasing third.
On support action duties was the domestic GP 2 Lightning Rods where veteran racer Paul Nesbitt relished the opportunity of racing on the big stage, taking an undisputed hat trick of wins.
