Double for McConnell

Bangor’s Craig McConnell was again the star performer in the Brisca F2 Stock Cars, at Wednesday’s very damp Nutts Corner Raceway meeting. McConnell opened the evening in style with a comfortable victory in heat one ahead of Gavin Fegan. It was the lower graders who dominated in the second encounter, with Stephen McCready taking the honours ahead of Curtis Greer the runner up. Persistent rain continued as the cars come back on track for the meeting final. Ted Holland set the pace in the opening laps before Martin Stewart took up the running with Greer close behind. While Stewart continued to lead the way, Greer was edging closer as was McConnell. Greer eventually moved through to the lead which was to be a brief visit to the head of the field however, as McConnell nudged his way to the front. McConnell completed the laps to take the win, Gavin Fegan found some late pace to secure a fine second place finish ahead of Greer.

A decent showing of Junior Rods put on a fine display over the course of their three races. Anais MCCreight and Jamie Cardwell shared the heat wins before Jack Morrow stormed to glory in the meeting final; Christopher Cardwell was second across the line with Jonathan Brown third.

Ryan Wright picked up the victory in 2L Saloon heat one before Matthew Stirling claimed the honours in the second heat. The Irish Champion Anthony McIvor was in top form for the meeting final where he galloped clear to take the win, Stirling was second with Kieran McIvor third.

Rasharkin’s Jason Darragh was the first to show in the Group Two Lightning Rods taking a clear victory in the opening heat. Freddie Fleck was the victor of heat two before Paul Nesbitt claimed the final honours. Clive Wilson was the gallant runner up with the heat two winner Fleck in third.

Completing the programme was the Micro F2 Stock Cars, Ava McCreight was first across the line in the opening event. The rest of the evening was dominated by Mya Hill who was in unstoppable form.
