McFerran Crowned Irish Champion
The Brisca F2 Stock Cars were in action for their biggest domestic meeting of the season, the Irish Closed Championship. Aidan McFerran earned the right to pole position as leader of the points chart, Shea Fegan occupied the outside of the front row while Fegan brothers Graham and Gavin shared row two on the grid.
At the fall of the green Shea Fegan soon took up the top spot, with McFerran in tow. As the race progressed Shea Fegan kept sway at the helm with McFerran safely in second a safe distance ahead of Gavin Fegan in third. While the gap between the leading duo was not massive, it looked as though on presentation of the lap boards that Shea’s lead was comfortable enough to peel of the remaining laps out front, however this was not to be; as he spun out of control in turn three only a handful of laps from home. With his machinery stranded on the racing line a caution period was called which would see the cars all bunched together in a shoot out to the flag. This was a welcome sight for the chasing McFerran, who was in the right place to pick up the pieces of Shea’s misfortune. McFerran completed the remaining tours of the circuit to pick up the title ahead of Gavin and Graham Fegan.
Later in the meeting Shea Fegan visited victory lane in the Irish Revenge Race while Adam McFall secured victory in the heat.
Donner is Irish B2B Champ.
The Republic of Ireland’s Daniel Dooner was the crème of the Banger scene where he cruised to a somewhat convincing win in the B2B Micro Banger Irish Championship. The race served up action aplenty including a roll over for Jake Carson. Aaron McGraw completed the remainder of proceedings undefeated, claiming wins in both the support races and the DD.
The current Irish Champion Daniel Stewart added the Gold Roof title to his C.V in the Junior Rods after another fine victory at Sunday’s Nutts Corner meeting. Later in the meeting Ava McCreight and Daniel Taylor shared the heat victories.
David Nesbitt stamped his authority on the Group 2 Lightning Rods Gold Roof event, where he secured another title victory adding to his already impressive tally for 2022. Joining Nesbitt on the podium was Freddie Fleck and George Esler. Gary Freeburn, a recent recruit to the formula continued his impressive run with a double heat victory.
In the 2L Saloon Stock Cars Calvin Blake survived a last bend challenge from the Irish Champion Ryan Wright to secure a pleasing heat one victory. From there Kieran McIvor commanded the remainder of the day taking the honours in heat two and the Gold Cup Final.
Sunday’s meeting concluded the domestic calendar at Nutts Corner however racing returns for the annual Festive meeting on Friday 30th Dec – 2pm featuring a Caravan DD, B2B Micro Bangers, 1300 Stock Cars, 2L Saloons, Junior Rods and GP2 Lightning Rods.
