Daniel crowned Irish Champion

Portadown’s Daniel Stewart drove the race of his life crowing himself Irish Champion in the competitive Junior Rod formula. Jack Morrow set the early race pace from pole position but it was clear than Stewart had the pace to cause alarm to Morrow. While Morrow held the top spot, Stewart hung on in a determined fashion on the outside for a long-time until Joshua Murray become a challenger on the rear of Stewart. While Stewart had to switch into a more defensive mode, Morrow started to pull clear at the front while the other pair battled it out. A late race incident further back in the pack would end Morrows championship hopes as he collided with the wall heavy after coming in contact with spilled fluids from a damaged car. The drama led to a race suspension, which would see Stewart challenge from the front. Stewart managed to command the remaining laps to take glory; Murray was the gallant runner up with Ava McCreight third. Later in the afternoon Calyn Peoples and Mya Hill shared the heat wins, Mya’s win was notable, as this was her first victory in the formula.

Donnell scoops Irish ORCi Stock Rod Title

Larne man William Donnell was triumphant in the ORCi Stock Rod Irish Championship Final. Donnell occupied pole position with the defending champion Shea Duff alongside. At the fall of the green, Duff got quickly out of shape which triggered a massive home stretch crash which required a race stoppage. Duff and Jamie Cardwell who was among the favourites were both sidelined after the collision. On the restart, Donnell who now had his two biggest threats out of the picture was able to take up the running and go on to take the victory unhindered. Andy McLeister was the runner up with Kurtis Reid returning to third after being part of the early carnage. Joshua McMullan and Reid shared the heat victories which concluded the afternoon of racing for the Stock Rods.

Support Formula Round Up

Ballymena’s Gary Freeburn was in fine form in the GP2 Lightning Rods. The rookie only on his second meeting recorded a flawless hatrick of wins. Portglenone’s Stewart Nicholl was runner up in the final ahead of David Nesbitt.


Shea Fegan was winner of the Brisca F2 Stock Car Heat one before Martin Stewart recorded victory in the second encounter. Graham Fegan was winner of the meeting final, ahead of brother Gavin and son Shea.


Completing the race card was the Micro F2 Stock Cars where Casey Lee and William Graham chalked up the victories.
