Speedweekend Saturday seen the 2025 Brisca F2 Stock Car British Championship take centre stage at NuttsCorner Raceway, there was qualifying heats for the ORC Stock Rod and Ministox European Championships, Micro F2 Irish Open qualifying and the 1300 Stock Cars were also on hand to provide some contact support action.
As per the traditional format for the F2 British, each driver contested three out of five heats in a quest to secure points for the Final Grid. There was high level representation from all corners of the UK gathered to do battle in what were rather dismal wet conditions.
Scotland’s Robbie Dawson adapted to the conditions well taking the opening heat honors ahead of Mika Millar. England’s Charlie Knight kept his cool, getting maximum points on the board in heat two taking the flag ahead of local lad Corey Dawson-Stirling. Heat three went the way of Robbie Dawson, giving him his second trip to victory lane, West countryman Tommy Farrell was the runner up this time around. Regular Scottish visitor Euan Millar stormed to the heat 4 victory in front of Jamie Avery while Tommy Farrell again showed pace and determination to secure the fifth and final heat victory, with former Mini star Toby Partridge second.
With all the points tallied Farrell emerged the pole sitter for the showdown. Euan Millar shared the front row with fellow Scot Robbie Dawson occupying row two inside alongside Aaron Vaight.
While Farrell, Millar and Dawson all got away clean on the green, there was chaos behind with cars scattered everywhere around the circuit requiring a caution period on lap 2. At the restart Farrell made another fantastic escape. As the laps ticked away Farrell continued to stretch his advantage out front, by this time Archie Grindey was settled well into second spot with Millar third. All the while it was becoming clear Chris Burgoyne was moving through the field with pace. Another caution period was called when some of the front runners including Ryan McCrory and Millar come to grief with stricken cars on turn 2. All Farrell’s hard work was undone with Grindey now large in his mirror for the restart. Farrell got away clean again this time with Grindey giving chase. Farrell completed the remaining laps to take the British title. Grindey was the gallant runner up with Chris Burgoyne completing the podium spots after a fine run through. Rounding out the top 5 was Josh Weare and Steven Burgoyne.
The ORCi Stock Rods were in qualifying duties as the drivers went in search of vital points for the European grid. Heat 1 went the way of Jamie Dawson ahead of Callum Hosie. Former world champ Samuel Montgomery took the heat 2 honours with Dawson second this time around.Dawson continued his fine form in the the third and final heat with another win, local lad Cole McFall was the runner up.
It was also European qualifying for the popular ORCi Ministox. After three busy heats Owen Marshall emerged the victor in 2, being denied the hat trick by Lexi Crosbie who also secured a heat win. Notably Shay Page recorded second place finishes in all 3 events.
The Micro F2 Stock Cars were also in action as they contested 3 qualifying events for the next days Irish Open title showdown. Visiting driver Spencer Fisher visited victory lane in heat one before local star Kyle Anderson stormed to victory in heats 2 and 3.
Completing the busy race card was the all action 1300 Stock Cars. Alexander “Speedy” McCreadie showed a mature style to record victories in both the heats. The final was a lively affair which included a caution period for McCreadie after he received fencing from Jon McQuillan. Gareth Halliday went the distance to take the win ahead of William Taggart and Ty Richardson.
