Double victory for Wright

A decent turn out of ten 2L Saloons were in attendance at NuttsCorner Raceway, for their final domestic shakedown before the UK Speed Weekend at Skegness.  Winston Weir was the early pace setter in the opening heat before Ryan Wright escaped from the star grade to take the win.  Heat two was a livelier affair with plenty of battles taking place between the blue and star graded drivers. The Irish Champion Anthony McIvor escaped the drama to take over at the front, Wright soon broke free of trouble also and went about chasing down the runaway leader, the gap continued to close until Wright issued a last bend hit on the leading McIvor which proved not enough. McIvor with stood the assault to record the win with Wright hot on his heels.  Weir was swift to establish himself a comfortable lead in the meeting final while those behind traded places. The heat one winner Wright was again on a mission picking his way through the field until he was in second spot. Wright soon closed the gap on Weir and spun him aside to take his second win of the night, Matthew Stirling had a solid run through the pack to capture second spot with Kieran McIvor third.

Speedy Lands Final Win

Ballymena’s Aaron Moody was the first to taste victory in the Stock Rods when he cruised to a flawless victory in heat one.  Steve Gooch was the man to beat in heat two where he recorded the win ahead of Moody. Moody was again on fine form come the meeting final, he completed the distance ahead of his competitors however a penalty from race control demoted him back to third. The World Champion Stephen McCready inherited the victory with Shea Duff promoted to runner up.

The support action was provided by the Brisca F2 Stock Cars and Micro F2’s.  A depleted entry of only three F2’s were in action, Craig McConnell scored victory in heat one before Graham Fegan enjoyed wins in both heat two and the Final. Amy Morrow and Ava McCreight were the pace setters in the Micro F2 section.

Racing now enters recess for the remainder of July, the next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 1st August @ 7.30pm featuring Brisca F2 Stock Cars Grand National Series Rd4, Junior Rods, 2L Saloon Stock Cars & Group 2 Lightning Rods.
