Fegan and McConnell share the Silverware

A decent turnout of ten F2 Stock Cars was in action at Wednesday’s NuttsCorner Raceway meeting. Local man Paul Crooks set the early pace in heat one, until mechanical dramas forced him to retire from the leading spot in the closing laps. Sam McKay was there to pick up the pieces and indeed take the win; Craig McConnell had a pleasing run through from the Superstar grade to record a second place finish ahead of Graham Fegan in third. Crooks was again quick to set the benchmark in heat two, this time lasting the distance to take the win, Fegan was next with McConnell third. Crooks longed strong yet again during the first half of the meeting final, however the longer race allowed the star names Fegan & McConnell to close the gap. Crooks moved aside allowing the rapid duo to move through. Fegan took the honours with McConnell close behind in second, Crooks held on for a creditable third place finish.  McConnell kept his best to last, slicing through the opposition in style to take the Grand National victory. James Crossett held on well to take the runner up spot with Thomas Greer third.

Rodgers lands GP 2 Lightning Rod final win

Ballymena’s Mark Goldie made the best of his relegation to the blue grade, scrambling free of his pursuers to secure a flawless brace of heat wins. Rick Purdy was the runner-up in heat one while Daniel Rodgers followed Goldie home in the second qualifier. Come the final the onlookers were treated to a spectacular tit for tat battle between Goldie and Rodgers, as they traded places several times out front.  Rodgers eventually eased clear; soon building up a comfortable safety cushion from the new second place runner Clive Wilson. Rodgers completed the remaining laps to get his hands on the silverware. Wilson was forced to settle for second while David Reynolds come home in third.

Support Round Up

Chris Cardwell continued his winning streak in the Junior Rod formula when he completed the heat races undefeated. Odhrann McGeown set the early pace in the final before a late suspension was called when Ty Richardson and Mark Crawford come together. Jack Morrow took up the running on the resumption but soon found himself disqualified for excessive contact. Matthew Drysdale was the eventual winner with Cole McFall and McGeown next in tow.  In the Micro F2’s; Chelsey Rainey was the runaway winner of event one before Amy Morrow secured a convincing victory in the second encounter. Even three was a rather exciting affair with the leading Morrow spinning mid race. Lexi Crooks was quick to take over at the front and looked almost certain of heading the field home until she also crashed out causing a race stoppage. Rainey commanded proceedings on the restart and completed the distance with Ava McCreight close behind, Mya Hill was the only other finisher in third.
