Speedy performance from McCready

Newly crowned Stock Rod World Champion Stephen McCready got his debut meeting with the gold roof off to a great start with a win in heat one from the rear of the grid. Sam McKinstry and Raymond Harper rounded out the top three. Heat two was a similar picture to heat one with World Champion McCready storming away from the rest of the pack after starting from the first row of the grid. This time it was the 932 of Ian Thompson Snr who crossed the line as runner up and Jack Kennedy third. The points gained in both the heat events were combined to form a grid for the NC Masters Championship Final. It was no surprise that the double heat winner McCready emerged as the pole sitter, local lad Jack Kennedy joined McCready on the front row with Raymond Harper and Ian Thompson Snr occupying row two. At the green flag McCready got away in text book style, with Harper and McKinstry in tow. The chasing duo of Harper and McKinstry were unable to keep on terms with the rapid World Champion as he stretched his advantage with each passing lap. McCready completed the race distance to take the honours, Harper was the gallant runner up with McKinstry recording a fine third place finish.

Grand National success for Kincaid

The main event for the Brisca F2's was the Raymond Harper automotive Grand National Series finale. The grid was formed using the points gained during the season long qualifying campaign, this concluded with Conor Hughes and Bradley McKinstry filling the front row of the grid with Christopher Kincaid and Gordy McKee sharing row two. The race was still very young when a caution period was sanctioned to deal with an incident on turn number one.  Hughes was the leader at the restart however after a few lively exchanges Kincaid soon found his way to the head of proceedings, Kincaid used his blistering pace to full advantage as he completed the remaining laps to take the win ahead of Ryan McCrory and McKinstry. An extra award for the first white or yellow graded finisher was up for grabs which was scooped up by Mark Murphy.  Murphy's success continued later in the evening when he took the win in heat one before Antony Kincaid recorded a convincing win in the second and final heat of the evening.

The young guns in the Junior Rods and Micro F2's were also in action to provide the support element of the programme.

A healthy showing of nineteen Junior Rods contested the customary two heats and a final, Jamie Hunter and Anais McCreight were the heat winners before Matt Milliken claimed the silverware in the meeting final. Amy Bradford and Mark Crawford joined Milliken on the podium as the second and third place prize winners.

10 Micro F2's contested in another 3 race events where Chelsy Rainey and Tyler McClurkin were the star performers.

Racing returns to Nutts Corner Raceway on Sunday 17th September at 2.00pm featuring the 1300 Stock Irish Closed Championship, Micro F2's, Brisca F2's, 2L Saloons & Junior Rods.
