Hughes returns to form

Antrim ace Conor Hughes found his old pace in the F2 Stock Cars at Wednesday's Nutts Corner Raceway outing. Hughes proved unstoppable in the 16 car meeting final where he quickly made strides from the blue grade towards the early race leaders Paul Crooks and Mark Murphy. As the laps ticked away Hughes soon made his move for the top spot, leaving Murphy and Crooks in his rear-view mirror. At the flag Hughes took the win well clear of Murphy the runner-up, Ryan McCrory recorded a fine third place finish highlighting his strong pace from the star grade. Earlier in the evening Murphy and McCrory shared the heat wins.

McQuillan strikes glory

The 1300 Stock Cars were in fine form, providing the onlookers with three very entertaining races. Heat one was the least eventful encounter of the evening with little dramas to report, in the exception of an attempted last bend manoeuvre from Bradley Woods on the race leader Michael Logan, this turned out to be in vain as Logan held on for the win. Heat two concluded in explosive fashion when Woods, Peter Greer, Adrian McKinstry and Logan all entered the final bend in search of glory. After some lively exchanges Logan emerged the victor once again. Logan looked as though he could make it three in a row come the meeting final, however this wasn't to be. As the double heat winner found himself turned out to the wall as he attempted to take up the leading position, while the drama's continued Jon McQuillan quickly moved through to the front. McQuillan kept his cool, completing the full race distance to take the win ahead of McKinstry and Woods.

Support Formula Round Up

The Micro F2's and Stock Rods were on hand to provide the support action. A pleasing showing of eleven Micro F2's completed three interesting events where Jack Morrow and Tyler McClurkin were among the pace setters.

Philip Wilson continued his impressive run of form in the ultra competitive Stock Rod formula, adding another two race wins to his tally. His first win come in heat one where he crossed the line first ahead of Graham Moore and Stephen McCready. McCready stepped up his game in heat two, where he chased down the rapid white graded Wilson to take a somewhat convincing win. Wilson was back on his 'A Game' during the meeting final, he was quick to seize the opportunity to secure his second win and indeed the silverware. Jack Kennedy was the gallant runner up ahead of Sam McKinstry in third.

The next event at Nutts Corner Raceway will take place on Wednesday 24th  May at 7.30pm, this fixture will feature Brisca F2 Grand National Series Round 3, Micro F2's, 2L Saloons & Junior Rods.
