Hazlett takes Irish Open

Some great racing was provided for the crowd from start to finish as all the drivers fought hard to gather points for the main event of the day, it was Scotland's David Kempton who emerged victorious in heat one after an intense battle between fellow yellow grader Steven Archibald. In the closing stages of the race was when the pressure was really applied to not only Kempton, but Archibald also as some of their fellow drivers closed the gap on the leading duo, Lee Wylie filled up the top 3. Heat 2 provided much of the same wheel-to-wheel racing, only this time it was the #70 car of Archibald who took the flag with Kempton following suit in 2nd, with Kurtis Reid 3rd. After the two qualifying heats the points was tallied up and it was Kempton and Archibald tied on row 1 of the grid. The main race got off to a ropey start as Archibald got sideways off turn 2 and caught James Gray turning him to the wall and causing a pile up with a few new cars involved, some of them being Ian Thompson Snr. And Declan McFerran, causing the race to be restarted. The race got under way yet again and it wasn’t long until Tim Hazlett made a break away from the pack with Jack Kennedy and Carl Shackleford following suit. A few of the visiting drivers, including the current World Champion, where trying their hardest to chase the top 3 down, although by this time the top 3 had pulled away. Hazlett crossed the line 1st with Jack Kennedy 2nd, Carl Shackleford 3rd and Michael Bethune 4th.

Milliken makes it a trio.

Matthew Milliken well and truly set the pace in the Junior Rod category as he took a storming victory in heat 1, Irish Champion Antony Kincaid tried his hardest to catch the blue grader, but had to settle for 2nd. Amy Bradford set the pace for a while in heat 2 with fellow white grader Jonathan Brown not far behind. Milliken didn’t take long charging the pair down and taking over as the lead car. Milliken crossed the line with Brown and Jamie Hunter filling the top 3 out. Milliken got a brilliant drive again from the blue grade chasing down the two white graders, Amy Bradford and Jonathan Brown within a few laps. Milliken continued to pull away lap after lap, although Kincaid was on a mission from the red grade, Milliken never set a foot wrong to take the silverware with Kincaid not able to reel him in, having to settle for 2nd and Cole McFall 3rd.

Rainey takes a tumble

Nicky Lowry took a win after a rather dramatic heat 1 which involved Aaron Rainey rolling into turn 1. Thankfully he walked away unscathed. Jon McQuillan took the honours in heat 2 as he thrashed his way through everything that was in front of him. McQuillan took the silverware in the final also.

Tucker does the double

Thomas McCrory Jnr. Took a double heat win as he stormed to two great victories in heat 1 and 2 for the BriSCA F2 Stockcars. Scott Finlay stopped any chance of McCrory making it a trio of wins as he beat him to the flag in the final. Finlay had a lap handicap in the Grand National event and had  reeled in some of the cars at the back by the time the flag had dropped, it was Christopher Kincaid who took the glory in this event.

Rhianna does it again

Rhianna Murray kept her run of luck going as she took the victory in heat 1 of the day. It was Irish Open Champion Jack Morrow beat Rhianna to the line in heat 2. Rhianna tried her hardest as she had tried around the outside of Morrow. Rhianna made it a double victory as she stormed to the flag in the final.
