Smyth Lands Super Saloon Silverware

Trevor McFaul got off to a fine start in heat 1 with a hard-fought victory against fellow driver Richard Nicholl. Nicholl came back with a bounce however and landed a victory in heat 2, Nicholl again held off his fellow competitor to take the flag. Karl Smyth was the man to beat in the final however, starting off the back and closing down the front runners rather rapidly in the final few laps to take the silverware.

Greer takes Gold Cup

Aaron Rainey set the ball off and rolling with a win in heat 1 of the 1300 Stockcars Gold Cup with Curtis Greer following through in second and Jon McQuillan 3rd, however McQuillan took the honours in heat 2 with Ivan Elliott in second after a big last-bend lunge for the position and Curtis Greer 3rd. It was Greer who performed when it counted and took the win in the final from the two heat winners McQuillan and Rainey.

Kennedy denies Wylie’s treble

Lee Wylie got off to a brilliant start in the Stock-Rod category with a narrow win over Red-Grader Jack Kennedy in heat 1. Kennedy again chased Wylie to the flag in an almost carbon copy of heat 1, although slipped up and let Wylie away for the win. The final was made for interesting viewing with battles going on throughout the grid for positions along with the duo that has, by this stage pulled away from the rest of the pack. Kennedy had done what he couldn’t in the two heats and made it stick to take the flag and silverware.

Broggy does the double

Josh McKinstry had a well deserved win in heat 1 in the Junior-Rod division, with newcomer Stuart Percy following suite in second with Taylor Broggy 3rd. Broggy went two better in heat 2 and took the flag from lady racer Leah Hughes and Jack Patchett 3rd. The final was a rather rough affair with a few cautions coming into play for the faster cars coming from the back of the grid. Broggy took advantage of these stoppages and started to pull away with Patchett almost hooked on behind. Patchett made a move on Broggy to take the flag, but unfortunately the Race Steward wasn’t happy about this and handed a two place penalty to Patchett, awarding Broggy the win and promoting Anais McCreight into 2nd positon.

McClurkin takes Final win

Jack Morrow continued his fine run of form as late in the Micro F2’s with a win in heat 1 with newcomer to the class Scott Hosie coming home in second, with Sam Stewart in 3rd. Hosie went one better in heat two, tallying his second win in only two meetings in the class. Tyler McClurkin was the man to beat in the final however, taking a fine victory and also the silverware, with another newcomer to the class Jude Law following through in second with Jack Morrow filling the last podium position.

The race action continues on Wednesday 29th June @ 7.30pm with the F2 Stock Cars, GP 2 Lightning Rods, 2L Saloons and Stock Rods all featuring on the race card.
