English Stars scoop the silverware.

Day number 2 of the 2L saloon weekender saw the drivers challenge for the Irish Masters title as well as the coveted John Griffith's Memorial Cup. The rough and tumble action of Saturday's race meeting took its toll with a few absentees although a decent number were assembled in the pits to to  battle once again. Anthony McIvor and Stuart McCammon were quick to fly the flag for the home contingent by sharing the heat wins. The points gained in the heats were totted up to form the grid for the Irish Masters Final, McCammon and English Star Danny Colliver shared row 1 with McIvor and Luke Grief the newly crowned Irish Open champion just behind. Colliver made a text book start with McIvor giving chase, Irish Champion Ryan Wright coming from row 4 dealt a heavy blow moving through to third. As the race progressed Colliver was working hard to stay ahead of McIvor who was close behind with Wright and Grief also closing in, as the lap boards appeared Colliver was still ahead but only just, Grief had worked his way to second and made a last corner effort to upset the long time leader, it wasn’t to be enough with Colliver taking the win from Grief, McIvor and Wright. The annual John Griffiths memorial race was the final race of the weekend with extra prizes up for grabs thanks Team McCrory (32/132). Grief was quick to stamp his authority on this one taking up the lead early on, all the action was behind were the second place runner Wright was rattled around the wall, Colliver picked up the pieces moving through to second, Ross Watters was on the move along with fellow Scotsman Ian McLaughlin. At the flag it was Grief from Colliver with Wright recovering after his early dramas to complete the podium spots.

Kincaid bags final spoils.

A healthy turnout of BriSCA F2's put on a fine display in what was there second race meeting in as many days at the raceway, it was the newcomer Sean McFerran who took the first glory of the afternoon with an excellent win in heat one. Randalstown man Willie Murray found pace in heat two to bag the honours before the rapid Chris Kincaid blasted through the field in the meeting final adding yet more silverware to his collection, former junior rod Irish Champion McFerran was the runner up ahead of Dean McCrory.

In the support formula Karl Smyth had a perfect hat trick in the Euro Stock section with local man Ryan Stewart enjoying a heat and final win in the 1300 Stock Cars where Robert Mawhinney took the other heat honours. The Junior F2's featured in another two demo races with Tyler McClurkin and Shannon Nesbitt sharing the wins while Antony Kincaid and Cole McFall were the Junior Rod heat winners, McFall the former Ninja kart star went on to record his first final win later in the programme.

Racing now takes a break until Wednesday 29th July when we return with a full programme of race action kicking of at 7.30pm.
