Nutts Corner Raceway reconvened on Boxing Day for it's annual festive bash with 5 classes in action spread over 15 action packed races. As has now become custom the meeting was dedicated to the late Derek Mason with each of the formula's on display contesting the coveted Derek Mason King of the Corner Memorial title.

Chris Kincaid the Brisca F2 Irish champion set the pace in the rapid open wheelers with a very convincing win in the opening heat of the afternoon crossing the line well clear of the runner up Craig McConnell. Local teenager Bradley McKinstry displayed his talent in heat 2 where he romped to victory again ahead of the consistent McConnell. The final was a lively one with William Murray showing well in the opening stages before the rapid trio of Kincaid, McConnell and McKinstry stamped their authority. It wasn’t long before the damp weather conditions played havoc below the bonnet of the McConnell machine leaving his engine running very sick indeed. McConnell was forced to retire leaving McKinstry and Kincaid to battle it out for the win. While McKinstry kept up pace with the champion Kincaid disaster was soon to strike when the wheel guard become lose on McKinstry's car which resulted in a technical disqualification. Kincaid completed the remaining laps to take his second win of the day ahead of Murray and Gordy McKee.

Ivan Elliot continued his streak of success in the 1300 Stock Car section with an impressive hat trick of victories during the festive get-together. Elliot opened his afternoon with comfortable wins in both the heats before having to work hard to scoop the final silverware. Curtis Greer set the early pace in the final however it wasn’t long before Elliot was closing the gap rapidly. As the lap boards appeared Elliot was within a few car lengths of the leading Greer and looking for that top spot. Elliot kept his best to last and launched a heavy assault on the final bend to nip through and take his third consecutive win from Greer and Nicki Lowry.

The McIvor brothers from Coleraine dominated proceedings in the 2L Saloon Stock Cars with Kieran enjoying wins in both heat one and the feature final while Anthony picked up the flag in heat two. Veteran racer Stuart McCammon was another who featured well with top three finishes in each race during the afternoon.

Arguably the Junior Rods were class of the day with a large number of competitors on track to do battle. Leah Hughes was the first to take victory with an excellent win in very tricky conditions in heat one, Hughes was followed home by Antony Kincaid. Kincaid was quick to turn up his pace after the opening heat by going on to take victory in the second heat as well as the grand final, Jamie Hunter highlighted himself as a potential threat in 2016 with runner up on both occasions. Jack Kennedy completed the podium steps in the feature final.

Completing the packed billing was the ever-growing Micro F2's. Numbers were lower than of later however all the signals indicate the class will feature a greater driver base in the 2016 season.

All sights are now set on the new season which will power into full swing in late March with the fixture planning already in its final stages, all the latest information can be found at the official website www.nuttscornerraceway.co.uk
