GP2’s – Clyde Cruises to Another Title Victory

Broughshane man Jason Clyde cruised to a comfortable victory in the GP2 Stadium Championship final. The young star who won the Irish Open Championship at Ballymena Raceway last weekend started from pole position and never looked back. He completed the laps to take the win from Freddie Fleck in second and Noel Hazlett in third. Rodney Fleck took the spoils in heat one, whilst Stewart Nicholl enjoyed a convincing win in heat two.

Juniors – Moody on the Move

Aaron Moody provided a master class performance to take the spoils in the Junior Rod Gold Cup Championship, a race which saw twenty two cars take to the track. The Current Irish Champion skilfully passed the current form man Niall McFerran to take up the running. Anthony Kincaid was also sharp to make a move on the pole starter McFerran, before the yellow flags were called to deal with a pile up on the home straight. To add to the tension, the rain started to fall on the restart, resulting in another race suspension when Liam Wilson collided with the concrete. With only 2 laps remaining on the green flag, Moody was soon crowned the Gold Cup Champion, after a great last few laps McFerran emerged the runner up from Anthony Kincaid.

Two heat races followed the Gold Cup final, McFerran recorded the win in the first encounter, before Jordan Finnegan claimed the top spot in the second.

F2’s – Grand National Glory for Kincaid

Chris Kincaid was the star man when the BriSCA F2’s contested their Grand National Championship Series Final. After a gruelling qualifying series it was 929 Conor Hughes who found himself on pole with Sam McKay along side. Craig McConnell made the best of his second row start to briefly take up the lead before Kincaid blasted through. The race was brought under caution when 932 Gary Blair hit the wall hard as a result of a jammed throttle. Kincaid was quickly off into the distance on the restart and held the advantage to the flag. McConnell was second across the line with Gavin Fegan in third.

After the dry track conditions of the Grand National Championship, the F2’s were greeted with a wet track for their first heat. The yellows were called when several cars came together on the river bend early in the race. Ryan McCrory was away sharp on the restart, and completed the laps to take a fine win.

The second heat was still young when the blue graded Gavin Fegan dispatched Mark Rainey & Ted Holland, resulting in a caution period, Fegan reaped the benefits of the yellows and was in the lead soon after the restart, and lasted the distance to collect the flag.

The final was action all the way with Craig McConnell delivering a heavy blow on a batch of cars early on, and eventually going on to lead before Kincaid took up the running mid race. Kincaid went on to take the win from Gavin Fegan & Ryan McCrory.

1300’s

Providing the support action was the 1300 stock cars, eight cars were on track with recent returnee Barry Smith collecting the flag in both the heat races. As per the rules Smith was upgraded to red for the final, which was sure to add an extra challenge for the double heat victor. Ryan Stewart led the way for a long time, before Smith picked up the pace again to complete a faultless hat trick.
