Casey claims honours in the National Banger King of the Corner!!

Keith Casey was the man to beat when the 2l National Bangers contested their King of the Corner event. 15 drivers assembled on the grid to do battle for the big showdown; there was no shortage of action as all the drivers exchanged heavy blows to the delight of the spectators. Casey held his nerve all the way and went on to take the flag crowning himself king! Aaron Kelly won the all comers race which followed with Jessie Gilshan taking the win in the dd. Keith ‘Fat Boy’ McMahon was named as entertainer of the day.

Final wins for McFerran, Stewart and Finnegan in the support classes.

Niall McFerran was a man on a mission in the Junior Rods executing a fine streak of three wins; McFerran opened his account with a win in heat one followed across the line by Anthony Kincaid, again in heat two it was McFerran on hand to take the flag from the much improved Matthew McKinstry. The final was action all the way with young Anthony Kincaid setting the early pace making McFerran work very hard to keep up the pace. The double heat winner soon stepped up to the mark and consequently passed Kincaid and went on to take the final winner making it the hatrick, Kincaid was the gallant runner up.

Willie Stewart kicked his afternoon of in style in the 1300 stock car section with a convincing win in the opening heat before the white graded Mark Gilmore took the spoils in heat two. As the green flag fell on the final Gilmore made a great escape meanwhile Stewart was blasting his way through the pack. It was long before Stewart was through to second and in search of the leading Gilmore. Gilmore put up a great fight but it wasn’t enough to stop Stewart winning the final and indeed his second race of the day.

The speed stocks got off to a quiet start in heat one with Noel Hazlett taking the spoils, it was to be the last success of the afternoon as he received a heavy walling in heat two courtesy of James Goldie which sidelined both from the remainder of the afternoons racing. Jason McCreight went on to take the win with Aidy Finnegan the winner in the Final.

Racing returns on Sunday 13th April at 2pm with Brisca F2 Stock cars, 2L Saloon Stock Cars, 1300 Stock Cars, Junior Rods and Speed Stocks all on the busy schedule.
