All Wright on the night for Ryan!

The mighty Saloon Stock Cars were back in action for their final round of the 2013 Shoot-Out Series which has been running since April at both Ballymena and Nutts Corner Raceways. With a possible forty points still up for grabs all was still to play for and it was the current Irish and Stadium champion Ryan Wright who took the early advantage by winning heat one, adding ten points to his tally, but not before he had to catch the early leader Jason Smyth who set a blistering pace out front.  Smyth got off to another great start in heat two and went all the way to the flag with Wright the runner up.  It was crunch time in the final and as the green dropped Smyth disappeared out in front again with James Serplus and Kieran McIvor next in tow. Meanwhile Wright and Stirling were making ground from the rear.  McIvor was soon through to second but it was short lived as Wright dealt him a blow and went in search of the leaders.  The gap between Wright and the leading Smyth was closing with every passing lap until suddenly with three to run Smyth pulled off. Wright kept up the momentum and went on to take his second final win in succession with McIvor in second and Stirling third.  Once the final points were added it was confirmed that Wright scored top in the series points and therefore the 2013 Shoot – Out Series champion Title. Ross Houston was a gallant runner up despite his being unable to compete to score points in the final round. Matthew Stirling claimed the third spot.

Two in a row for Fegan

Gavin Fegan’s top form in the F2’s continued by securing his second final win in as many weeks.    Conor Hughes was the man to beat in the first encounter; with the Antrim man setting a pace that none of the others had an answer for, Hughes took the win with ease with Christopher Kincaid in second.  Kincaid went one better in heat two by recording the win with Matthew McCreight next across the line. McCreight set the early pace in the final with heat one winner Hughes chasing him down, before he ran into mechanical difficulties having to retire.  Fegan and Kincaid both looked fast, and it wasn’t long before they made their move on McCreight to move out in front. Fegan romped home the victor with Kincaid close behind, whilst McCreight lasted the distance and came home in third.

Dan defends his Irish Crown

Dan Feeney successfully defended his Irish Championship title in the 1300 Stock Cars. Feeney made the perfect start off the outside of row one, leaving pole sitter Ryan Stewart behind as they entered the first corner.  Feeney got around turn one clean as the rest battled hard for the placings.  As the race settled Feeney had a healthy advantage out front from second place man William Stewart.  Stewart tried all he knew but it wasn’t enough and Feeney crossed the line to take the Irish Championship for the second year in succession, Stewart was next across the line with Calvin Blake completing the podium places in what was a great season for the young gun.  William Stewart was the winner of the Allcomers heat which concluded the evenings 1300 Stock Car action

Mc Gaw & Purdy take the honours in the Prostocks formula

In the support formula it was Aaron McGaw who claimed glory in the Junior Rods with a fine heat and final double.  Aaron moody was the other heat winner and the young Ballymena lad was runner up in the final with Anthony Kincaid third, concluding a top evening of thrills and spills fopr the youngsters.

Samuel Purdy went all out to get his hands on the Prostocks King of the Corner with Billy Finnegan Jnr the runner up.  The duo also enjoyed a heat win apiece.
