Fantastic Four!

A dozen F2’s were in action, providing no less than four different winners throughout the course of the meeting.  Christopher  Kincaid got his evening  off to a great start with a well calculated win in heat one, but not before he had to close the gap on long time leader Jonny Stirling. Stirling was no pushover in heat two, he got off to a great start and  went the whole way to the flag with Kincaid the runner up. It took no less than three attempts to get the final underway with the star graders closing the gap on the blue roofs, when the green finally fell it was Stirling who showed well again, but this was short lived as the Crumlin man had to retire due to mechanical problems.  As the race neared the halfway point the yellow flags were shown to assist Sam McKay who had a big crash on the home straight. On the restart Gavin Fegan got the jump and lasted the distance to win from Kincaid and Ryan McCrory. To conclude the F2 action for the night round five of the Grand National Series was won by Conor Hughes.

Three for McKee!

Gordon McKee was the man to beat in the ORC Lightning Rods, with the local man powering to a hat trick of wins. Gordys’ winning streak began in heat one with a fine victory from his brother, Ben, the runner up. Heat two proved to be another easy run for Gordy as he romped to victory with Andrew Percy his closest rival this time. Gordy’s night just kept getting better and better and as the green flag fell in the final the rapid 947 machine got off to a lightning start and the rest was history. Ben McKee was the runner up in this one with Andrew Percy in third.

Billy, Billy to the double!

Billy Finnegan was in top form in the speed stocks romping to a heat and final double. Finnegan was the clear winner in heat one but just couldn’t fight off the challenge of James Goldie in heat two. The two heat winners fought tooth and nail in the final but it was Finnegan in the end that had the upper hand. Finnegan took the win from James Goldie and Curtis Greer in third.

Young Love(s) to win

Lawrence Young was another driver who enjoyed a double victory. Young, starting off the white grade romped to victory in the 1300 Stock Car heat one, before the established star grader Ryan Stewart denied him the perfect hat trick by claiming honours in heat two. Young got off to an ideal start in the final and made the best of the star graders fighting for position. As the lap boards appeared, the gap between the second place man, William Stewart, was ever closing but despite Stewarts best efforts, Young held on to take the flag, Stewart was the gallant runner up with Dan Feeney in third.

Racing returns this Wednesday night (4th sept) 7.30pm with the 1300 Stock Car Irish Championship, Brisca F2’s, 2L Saloon Stock Cars, Junior Rods and Prostocks all on the busy schedule.
