Shaw shines in Stadium Championship!

A below average showing of only six Group Two Lightning Rods took to the track for heat one which was won on the road Johnny Gillespie, before being docked two places for contact promoting Curtis Greer to take the top spot.  Five cars appeared on track for the second heat, with Mark Turtle the victor on this occasion.  Ricky Shaw got off to a great start in the Stadium Championship final and went all the way to take the win with the heat winners Greer and Turtle next across the line.

Goldie Strikes Gold!

Ballymena man James Goldie claimed the Speed-Stocks’ Stadium Championship in style in what was an action packed race. Goldie started off pole position and survived all the carnage which was taking place behind, star name Billy Finnegan wasn’t so lucky, having to retire due to damage he sustained in the heavy clashes during the opening laps. Noel Hazlett was another involved in the skirmishes, but he got going again, picking up momentum with each passing lap. At the flag Goldie was well clear crowning himself the 2013 Stadium Champion, Hazlett recovered well to finish runner-up with Jonny Kirk in third. Billy Finnegan claimed the honours in both the remaining heats.

Willie’s Winning Streak!

Nuttscorner man William Stewarts’ winning streak in the 1300 Stock Cars continued as he romped to a heat and final double. Stewart was denied a hat trick of wins when Richard Taylor secured his first ever win in the 1300 class when he took the flag in heat one. Stewart got the pedal down in heat two taking a fine win and repeated the procedure once again to take the honours in the final.

No stopping “New Dad” Cripper!

There was absolutely no stopping Christopher Kincaid in the F2 Stock Cars as he romped to a commanding hat trick of victories. Antrim man Kincaid started his red hot winning streak in heat one before he provided a carbon copy performance in heat two. The final got off a bumpy start as the star grade men battled for the positions, but it wasn’t long before the rapid Kincaid broke free from their ranks and went in search of the leaders. Sam McKay and Mazzy McCreight were showing well out front before Kincaid swiftly moved through and went all the way to the flag. Half a lap behind was the runner up Conor Hughes and Craig McConnell third. New proud father Chris brought his baby daughter Amy Lilly to share in his final win and photograph.

Dean Undefeated!

Antrim teen Dean McCrory left the meeting undefeated in the Junior-Rods, taking the honours in the Stadium Championship as well as the two support heats. The first race of the night was the Stadium Championship final for the youngsters. McCrory started on pole for the showdown, and the rest as they say was history! McCrory broke well free at the green flag, leaving the rest of the pack in his wake. There were a few suspension periods during the race but this never fazed McCrory as he made text book starts each and every time, Aaron Moody and Jack Kennedy battled hard for the remaining podium placings and at the flag it was Moody who claimed the runner-up spot from Kennedy in third. Following the Stadium final, there were two support heats which were both won by McCrory.
