Lightning Boult Strikes
Saloon Stock Cars from all corners of the UK assembled to do battle for the 2013 Irish Open Championship. In heat 1 the drivers were faced with very slippery track conditions due to heavy and prolonged rain before the meeting. English visitor Tristan Claydon took the honours in this one followed by Eddie Darby and Stuart Shevill Jnr. In heat 2 Claydon came on out on top again with Steve Webster the runner up and Shevill in third again completing a couple of strong qualifying finishes for the current Scottish Champion. With 2 heat wins under his belt Claydon earned the right to the top spot on the grid for the final with Shevill along side him, with ex World Champion Steve Webster and current World Champion Eddie Darby on the row behind. The best of the local qualifiers was ex Irish Open Ross Houston while the current Irish Champion Ryan Wright had to settle for starting slot 25. It wasn't long after the green until Darby took up the lead from Webster and George Boult Jnr, by this stage Shevill Jnr was under pressure from Houston. The race was brought under yellows 5 laps in due to new comer James Serplus parking his car in a dangerous position on the racing line. This bunched the pack up once again and on the restart Darby picked up where he left of before he soon found himself in drama with some back markers, this cost the World Champion time allowing Steve Webster to take up the lead which he held until the last corner. Boult Jnr delivered a well calculated blow on Webster which would crown him the 2013 Irish Open Champion. Webster held on for second with Darby coming home in third. Again as in the qualifying Houston was the best of the locals claiming a well deserved fourth, Ally Strachan rounded out a great weekend by finishing fifth, Shevill Jnr and Shane Davies fell back down the field from the high starting slots to claim sixth and seventh, Wright battled through well from the back to claim eighth and rounding out the top ten was Kieran McIvor and Thomas McCrory Jnr.

Reynolds Romps to Victory
The Unlimited National Bangers were well down in numbers from what was originally anticipated from the pre meeting booking list of 19. With only the 9 cars turning up that included Shane Davies from England. In the feature race it was star man Stephen Reynolds from Southern Ireland who excelled himself as always to claim the May Metal Mania trophy, Davies was the runner up. In a dominating display from the Davies and Reynolds duo Davies powered to victory in the all comers event. The last man standing in the D/Derby was Seanie Bell while Reynolds received the Best Presented Car Award and Keith McMahon was awarded the Best Entertainer.

Derek Goes with all Guns Blazing
There were only 8 Stock Rods in action which included 3 from Scotland and 1 from Southern Ireland. Stephen McCready was the victor in heat 1 then Derek McMillan got his race face on to claim victory in heat 2 and the meeting final the "Gunner Motorsport Cup, Chris Lattka was runner up in the final with Johnny Cardwell in third.

Cheers for Greer
Thomas Greer claimed his first victory of his 2013 campaign by winning the 2 heats in the Brisca F2 Stock Cars. Come final time the track conditions were nothing short of treacherous with numerous patches of spilled oil from the previous banger race. It was clear to see the experienced men shine in the difficult conditions and it wasn't long until Christopher Kincaid and Craig McConnell were through to the front. Kincaid went all the way to take the win from McConnell and Sam McKay in third. It was McConnell who stamped his authority in the 2nd round of the Grand National Series race by recording a fine victory.

Ryan Roars home in the Challenge
The 1300 Stock Cars were all about local lad Ryan Stewart who went all out to take a double victory in this popular contact class. Stewart easily reeled of the laps to win heat 1 before he repeated his performance and powered clear to win the Challenge Trophy, he was followed home in the title race by Michael Logan and Calvin Blake.
